The high-skilled staff that foreign investors have to bring to Macedonia has been waiting for a Macedonian visa and work permit for months. This staff additionally has a problem with payroll taxation, and frequent changes in laws and the rule of law are a problem that causes business instability. This was stated today at the Economic Chamber at a press conference, which presented the possibilities for cooperation of the economies of the country and Italy.
“It can be said that the country has the most rigorous visa and work permit regime for foreign nationals. This is one of the biggest problems pointed out by foreign investors in the country. It is known that in order to bring an expert from their country in order to present the process of work or invest in the country, he has to go through complicated procedures and wait for months to obtain a work permit. This is contrary to the proclamation of the country open to foreign investors,” said Pesev.
