Monthly living cost increases

The cost of living and retail prices in May compared to April this year increased by
0.4 percent, while compared to May last year decreased by 0.2 and 1.3 percent, the
State Statistical Office announced today.
The increase in the cost of living in May 2020, compared to the previous month, was
recorded in fresh and chilled fruits by 7.2 percent, fish and seafood by 0.9 percent,
spirits by 0.8 percent, sugar, jam , honey, chocolate and confectionery, mineral
water, carbonated beverages, fruit and vegetable juices, beer by 0.4 percent, meat,
fresh and chilled vegetables except potatoes and other root fruits by 0.3 percent,
bread and cereals and milk by 0.2 percent.
The increase in the cost of living in May 2020, compared to the previous month, was
recorded in fresh and chilled fruits by 7.2 percent, fish and seafood by 0.9 percent,
spirits by 0.8 percent, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery, mineral water,
carbonated beverages, fruit and vegetable juices, beer by 0.4 percent, meat, fresh
and chilled vegetables except potatoes and other root fruits by 0.3 percent, bread
and cereals and milk by 0.2 percent. In May this year, an increase in the cost of
living index was also registered in bicycles, fuels and lubricants for own vehicles by
3.3 percent, domestic services and household services by 3.2 percent, sports
equipment, camping. and outdoor recreation by 1.8 per cent, habitat maintenance
and repair services by 0.8 per cent, habitat maintenance and repair materials by 0.7
percent.
A decrease in the cost of living in May this year, compared to the previous month,
was recorded in oil and fat by 0.6 percent, eggs by 0.5 percent and wine by 0.2
percent.
Also, a decrease in the cost of living indices was recorded in liquid fuels for
households by 4 percent, equipment for receiving, recording and reproduction of
sound and images by 2.2 percent, electrical appliances for personal hygiene by 1

percent, large electrical appliances. household appliances by 0.9 percent, small
household appliances by 0.8 percent, clothing by 0.4 percent, other personal items
by 0.3 percent, glassware, kitchen utensils and other equipment, therapeutic aids
and equipment, information processing equipment, books, other appliances and
personal hygiene products by 0.2 percent.
