Stevo Pendarovski does not even know the basic European institutions. The European Economic Community is the forerunner of the EU from which the Union originated, and it no longer exists. How did Pendarovski refuse membership in something that does not exist?! But if Pendarovski refused membership in the European Economic Zone, then he acted irresponsibly, says VMRO-DPMNE.
The party points out that Stevo Pendarovski and Zoran Zaev are not monarchs, to whom the people have given the right to rule unconditionally and Macedonia is not their property, neither Pendarovski nor Zaev must make strategic decisions without asking the people.
“Who did Pendarovski ask when he rejected the offer for Macedonia to become a member of the European Economic Zone?! The European Economic Area is a separate area composed of countries that are part of the EU common market. Countries that are part of the European Economic Area are Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland, and before joining the EU there was Croatia, with membership in the European Economic Area the country becomes part of the EU common market on whose territory the same rules, regulations and trade apply. towards EU member states is free, as if the country is a member of the EU. The rejection of such an offer is scandalous. The state leadership must not make decisions on its own and for such an offer the citizens must be consulted. Membership in the European Economic Area is a big plus for the country while waiting to join the EU, which facilitates trade and the flow of people and goods. Membership in the EEC will mean more jobs, development of the business environment, but above all an obligation to harmonize domestic legislation with EU standards. It is obvious that SDSM only cares about the business interests of the Zaevi family, instead of the Macedonian workers and businessmen. Rejecting the offer is an anti-state act. Pendarovski and Zaev to say why they rejected the offer and whose foreign interests they were guided by?! Whose interest is Macedonia not to be part of the European Economic Zone and who is hindering our Euro-Atlantic progress?!, the opposition party said in a statement.
