This year’s Vevchani Carnival will be held without concerts and other organization, announced Vevchani Mayor Sasho Jankoski.

According to the mayor, the cancellation of the festival part is in order to prevent a mass gathering of people due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing that the Vasilica parades are organized by the two associations Gorno and Dolno Maalo.

“The municipality of Vevcani is giving up organizing concerts on January 12 and 13 to prevent mass gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But the municipality has never interfered, nor does it have the right to interfere, let alone delay St. Vasilija. The organization of the parades with Vasilichari belongs to the Vasilica associations Gorno and Dolno Malo and that is their right, but also an obligation,” said Jankoski.
