A diplomat of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of North Macedonia to the United Nations was found dead in her apartment in Manhattan, New York, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) told MIA.
“This sad news over the loss of a member of our mission, a career diplomat, hit us hard. On this occasion, we extend our deepest condolences to the family on behalf of all ministry colleagues, who have lost a close friend and a long-standing hard-working and dedicated diplomat,” the MoFA said in a press release.
New York media have reported that the diplomat was found in her apartment on New Year’s Eve in an apparent suicide. Police did not find signs of foul play.
