The new UNESCO report on the state of the protected natural and cultural heritage of the Ohrid region, which is written on hundreds of pages, has been sent to the institutions in the country.

The biggest remarks remain the excessive urbanization, illegal constructions along the coast and in the protected area of the city, the overemphasized exploitation of the coast, the dysfunctional collector, the disturbance and destruction of the environment, reports Ohrid News.

The non-compliance of the urban plans with the Plan for management of the world natural and cultural heritage of the Ohrid region remains a serious problem. It is late with the adoption of the urban plans, as well as with the solution of the Bukovo landfill.

What is most worrying is that most of these remarks are repeated in the reports of theReactive Monitoring mission from 2009 onwards.

After Macedonia officially receives the report, the country will have until the end of January to send a response with remarks on the content of the report and to start implementing the recommendations so that the Ohrid region is not on the list of endangered areas.
