The police have detained at least six persons for migrant smuggling in a large operation against an organized group on Wednesday.
The organized group, which operated under a strict hierarchy, was led by a 33-year-old man from Veles. Along with two people from the Middle East, he organized a criminal group in our country and organized the smuggling of migrants. Migrants from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, Bangladesh and other countries in the Middle East were illegally transferred from the Republic of Greece to the territory of Macedonia. During the smuggling, they used illegal crossings of the so-called “Green border” in the vicinity of Gevgelija, Strumica and Demir Kapija, and from there with the help of guides in a coordinated manner, took the victims to pre-determined locations.
The operation is conducted in Skopje, Shtip, Veles and Valandovo.
