VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski in his address on the 30th birthday of the party’s youth organization said that he respected the strategic interests of the United States, but that Macedonian interests were much more important.

“VMRO-DPMNE respects the strategic interests of the United States. Along with the EU, these are the systems that we only strive for, but at the same time it does not mean that we have no right to respect them and fight for our Macedonian national interests which are our basic foundation, our right and debt to Macedonia. And that fight impresses me. VMRO is a people’s party and has always been and will remain. The main question is how much the agreements have improved the quality of life, and are the people satisfied a few years later, where are Zaev’s promises that the EU will come, that high salaries will come, free health care, opening borders and endless opportunities? I am a realist and things should be said realistically,” said Mickoski.
