The Ombudsman requests that the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, together with the commercial banks, urgently find a temporary solution that will meet the needs of the citizens, who due to the inability to renew their personal documents, especially ID cards, due to lack of appropriate issuance date due to expired documents, they face problems, so they cannot withdraw money from the bank, such as pensions, salaries and other personal income and pay their bills.
“It is inadmissible for the weaknesses in the system for issuing personal documents in the Ministry of Interior, for which the Ombudsman has already reacted once, to break on the backs of the citizens and to unjustly create additional problems for them,” the Ombudsman said in a statement.
