Austria sends 136 people, 40 vehicles to help Macedonia put out fires – first group arrives Friday

The first group of an Austrian fire and rescue fleet, with 60 firefighters and 20 vehicles, arrived in N. Macedonia early on Friday. The second group is expected to arrive during the day, informs the Protection and Rescue Directorate.

The Austrian fleet consists of 136 people, 16 vehicles, 24 trucks, an ambulance vehicle, 2 ATVs and nine trailers.

The team is headed to the most critical points affected by the wildfires in the eastern part of the country.

Firefighting teams from Slovenia and Bulgaria, as well as Serbia joined the efforts to put out the wildfires throughout Macedonia.
