The government led by SDSM and DUI first convinced that there will be no increase in prices, and then that they will not reflect on the standard of the citizens, says opposition VMRO-DPMNE.
VMRO-DPMNE demands immediate acceptance of the measure to reduce the excise tax on fuels by 50%, which will reduce diesel fuel by 9.5 denars, and gasoline by as much as 13 denars.
“To make things even more tragic, the government boasts that it had information about the crisis from 4 months ago, and yet it did nothing to prevent it. The recent increase in fuel prices will further accelerate the inflation spiral in Macedonia. Fuels have increased by over 80% in a year and a half and have a direct implication on the price of transport, food, services and products used by citizens. But the government of SDSM and DUI does nothing to reduce excises and fees in order to meet the needs of citizens and the economy. Additionally, we request to reduce the value added tax for food products and heat, i.e. heating to be 0%, and VAT for electricity to be 5% in the rest of 2022. This will significantly reduce the price shock and protect the standard of citizens, “ the opposition party said in a press release.
