An international team of archaeologists will work on underwater excavations at the Vrbnik site near Struga, within the project “Underwater archaeological and interdisciplinary excavations at the Vrbnik site”, funded by the Ministry of Culture.

Macedonian underwater archaeologists will explore the palafite sites and pile settlements at Vrbnik along with colleagues from Austria, Switzerland, France, Poland and Germany.

According to the head of the research, licensed underwater archaeologist Valentina Todoroska, the goal is to discover the way of life in the pile settlements in Vrbnik and their age, through an interdisciplinary approach, analysis, dendrochoronology (examination of the age of the piles) and paleobotany.
