Vice President of the Bulgarian Parliament Kristian Vigenin believes that at the moment Sofia has no reason to lift the veto on Macedonia, but supports the idea of Prime Minister Kiril Petkov to convene a new Consultative Council on National Security.
“The issue of North Macedonia has become a subject of political abuse of all kinds. There is a strategic solution for Bulgaria, possible solutions should be sought, not to accumulate political benefits. Our task as a state is not to veto, to hinder R. North Macedonia, but to realize our goals – the rights of the Bulgarians in the Republic of North Macedonia, the common history, the language of hatred. We have no grounds to lift the veto on the Republic of North Macedonia,” Vigenin told BNT.
