The Government’s claims that the Macedonian language is protected and that reciprocity is ensured in the process, the leader of VMRO-DPMNE Hristijan Mickoski said in an interview with Deutsche Welle, and added that he considered them to be misleading the general public.
“The Government should not mislead the public that they have agreed on some kind of reciprocity. It is a coined term that serves as an alibi for them – that here we have also received something, and in a situation where they are destroying everything that is important for Macedonia. If they were so demanding of reciprocity, let them tell us what the Government of Macedonia is asking from Bulgaria – to recognize the Macedonian minority, to include them in the Bulgarian constitution, to change textbooks in Bulgaria or something similar, because all these things Bulgaria demands them from us. The protocol sealed the betrayal and fiasco of Macedonian diplomacy, including the public confirmation by the Bulgarian MFA that the Macedonian language is not recognized by Bulgaria,” says Mickoski.
