Construction engineer Mihail Garevski pointed out that N. Macedonia should not be afraid of devastating consequences after the Skopje earthquake in 1963 and the legal changes since then.
“Since 1963, real attention has been paid to the buildings in Macedonia. I would like to point out that in the last, maybe ten years, we have some of the safest buildings even in Europe, because we have very rigorous controls. First of all, the project is controlled, then a construction permit is given, and again for the same building, we go to the field twice to see if the project is being followed,” says Garevski of the Institute for Seismic Constructions and Climate Change.
