Macedonians consume the least amount of meat in Europe

N. Macedonia, Albania, Turkey and Moldova are countries where meat is consumed the least. According to a map of meat consumption by country in Europe published by the website Landgeist based on data from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Macedonians, Albanians, Turks and residents of Moldova consume 39 kilograms of meat each year.
Of the countries in the region, the highest consumption of meat is in Croatia with 80 kilograms per inhabitant, followed by Montenegro with 78 and Slovenia with 70 kilograms of meat per inhabitant. On average, Serbs eat 56 kilograms of meat per year, and citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina 43 kilograms.
Spain is in first place in Europe with 99 kilograms of meat per inhabitant. Portugal comes second with 95 kilograms, and Iceland is in third place with 91 kilograms of meat per inhabitant.
