The Macedonian lamb was exported to the European market for the Catholic Easter, and now it arrives in domestic butcher shops. Butchers say that this year’s export is somewhat lower than last year.
Compared to last year, Macedonian lamb exports to European markets are lower. It was exported to Croatia, Italy. Mainly because of the price, because there were enough lambs due to the warm winter. The price of about MKD 200 per kilogram of live weight is low for livestock farmers, but high for exporters and final European buyers. There is some left over for the Macedonian market, but I don’t know how much it will be sold for, because the price at the butchers is currently from MKD 500 to MKD 550 per kilogram.
