North Macedonia ranks second in the world in terms of the number of children who have not received any vaccine since birth. This is shown by the global report of UNICEF, which analyzed data for 55 countries in the world, 29 of which are located in Europe and Central Asia. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kyrgyzstan and N. Macedonia are sharing the same spot, and only Moldova is worse.
“The fact that after the pandemic, confidence in childhood vaccines has dropped significantly is worrying. Immunization is one of humanity’s greatest success stories. It led to the eradication of diseases such as smallpox and saved the lives of millions of people from dangerous diseases, including smallpox and polio,” said UNICEF Representative to the Republic of North Macedonia Patrizia DiGiovanni.
