Within the framework of the global fight against terrorism, the Ministry of the Interior, i.e. the Bureau of Public Security – Department for Suppression of Organized and Serious Crime – Sector for Combating Terrorism, Violent Extremism and Radicalism in a coordinated action with the National Security Agency and the Republic of France, which acted on an international warrant issued by our country, realized a case, in which three Macedonian citizens were deprived of their liberty, who during 2014 on the territory of Syria joined the armed formations of the terrorist organization Islamic State ISIS and actively participated as fighters in military actions.
In the past period, the persons O.S. (28), R.S. (33) and M.G. (26) were the subject of interest of the security services and in the international cooperation of the Ministry of the Interior and the ANB with other partner security services, the activities resulted with a simultaneous synchronized police action carried out on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia and France, during which two people in our country and one person in France were deprived of their freedom, and all of them are citizens of the Republic of N. Macedonia.
