Data on safety and health at work in the country differ from institution to institution, which indicates that the collection of relevant and unified information on workplace accidents is still an intractable problem in the country.

Each year on April 28 – the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, the Macedonian Occupational Safety and Health Association publishes an annual report on workplace injuries for the past year, but it is unofficial because it is based on information published in written and electronic media. Information, as the association says, was also requested from the competent institutions, but was not received.

“Until the moment of concluding the report as of April 27, 2023, we have not received any data on accidents at work. We received a notification from the State Statistics Office that they do not keep records and statistics of accidents at work within their statistical operations. The only two institutions that are responsible for such statistics – PHI Institute for Public Health and the State Labor Inspectorate for 2022 do not have prepared reports on accidents at work, according to the report from the Macedonian Occupational Safety and Health Association.
