Yesterday’s attempt to spread the lie to the citizens that their health is in danger due to the alleged illegal importation of 10 truckloads of unsafe tomatoes from neighboring Albania is a gross falsehood anonymously posted on social networks. According to the anonymous concerned author of the message, it is allegedly tomatoes that were returned as unsafe due to the determined increased presence of heavy metals and pesticides from imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina or the Republic of Montenegro, said the Food and Veterinary Agency (FVA) on Tuesday.

“As a responsible institution for food safety, we even more responsibly assert that such so-called imports are not possible, because shipments of food, including tomatoes that have been returned as unsafe from import to other countries, except for transit, may not be imported into the country,” said the FVA.
