Part of Macedonian Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski’s address at a closed-door panel discussing ways to safeguard and develop democracy in times of crisis, held as part of the Council of Europe’s Reykjavik summit.
“Let me conclude with the following. The discourse used by Bulgaria towards N. Macedonia is, unfortunately, very similar to the discourse used by the Russian Federation towards Ukraine. It is unacceptable that such accusations are misused for political purposes, especially in this crucial period for the future of Europe. North Macedonia is internationally recognized as a functional modern multi-ethnic society where all rights are respected. All reports confirm this. The accusations stated at this Summit by the representative of Bulgaria are completely unfounded and come from a country that does not respect the rulings of the ECtHR and the standards of the Council in the area of human rights,” Macedonian PM Kovachevski pointed out.
