What is needed is for the central budget to approve and allow new employments after the policeman retires, says commander of the Skopje Fire Protection Brigade Zvonko Tomeski.
According to Tomeski, despite this deficit, the Skopje fire brigade always responds to its tasks. He says that there is an improvement of the vehicle fleet and new equipment.
Tomeski informs that according to the data from the latest census, the number of citizens requires about 400 firefighters, and the country has only half of the required number.
The occupancy percentage is 48 percent of the required number according to legal regulations. We should have one firefighter for every 1,500 inhabitants and according to the new data from the census we should have somewhere around 400 firefighters, we are half of the required number.
