The so-called King of Roma music Ferus Mustafov has died at the age of 72 after a short illness, his family said in a statement.
Mustafov will be buried in Shtip, where he was born and where he lived with his family for the last years.
Ferus suffered from a stroke on April 26 and has been in the September 8 hospital ever since.
Mustafov was born in Shtip into a Roma family of musicians. His professional career began at the age of seventeen, while studying violin and clarinet.
Mustafov was very popular in his country for his repertoire of Balkan folk and Roma wedding music.
