Seven years ago today, Skopje was hit by a storm that caused floods that killed 22 people. In the afternoon of August 6, 2016, the Skopje region was hit by heavy rainfall and strong wind.
The victims of the storm were from the areas of Singelikj, Stajkovci, Smilkovci and Arachinovo villages.
In 24 hours on August 6, 2016, 92.9 liters per square meter rained in Skopje, and during the first two hours from the beginning of the storm, there were more than 800 lightning strikes.
The storm and torrential water caused trees to fall and homes to be left without power.
About a thousand citizens were evacuated during the night of August 6.
