About 160 to 180 brown bears, instead of 70, as there should be, are making rampages in the territory of the municipality of Mavrovo and Rostushe.
Yesterday, at an extraordinary session, the Council of the Municipality of Mavrovo and Rostushe tasked the Municipality to submit a request to the Government to declare a state of crisis due to the large number of bears, which pose a danger to the lives and property of the residents.
Bears in N. Macedonia are a protected species. A hunting ban has been in place since 1996, when a sharp decline in the number of specimens of this animal was recorded.
