Will the iconic Ohrid Palace hotel shine again in its full glory?

Between June 29 and July 5, Ohrid hosted the participants of this year’s 11th International Summer School of Architecture and Design. The challenge that the participants of this year’s school worked on was the “Palace” hotel, built way back in 1958, the work of the renowned Slovenian architect Edo Mihevc.

For the architects, it is indisputable that the “Palace” hotel, as a former tourist pearl that adorned the center of Ohrid, deserves to shine again with all its glory. They offer two alternatives to achieve this goal. The first provides for the reconstruction of the existing building with its expansion, through the application of the most modern standards and norms in this area, and the second option is the construction of a completely new building according to the latest styles and trends in urban architecture.

The building of the former “Palace” hotel has been declared a cultural monument.
