FVA and MoI foil smuggling attempt of lambs


The inspection services of the Food and Veterinary Agency (FVA), in cooperation with members of the Ministry of Interior (MoI), discovered and prevented illegal trade in lambs on Tuesday, with the intention of them being illegally exported to the Republic of Albania.

In a coordinated action with the inspectors of the Ministry of Interior, the vehicle with which the lambs were transported was stopped by police officers in Struga and after a control carried out by inspectors from the FVA, it was determined that it was 63 lambs that were not identified in accordance with the Law on Identification and Registration of the animals, and the transporter did not have certificates for the health status of the livestock.

According to the provisions of the Law on Inspection Supervision, the lambs were seized from the person who transported them and handed over to the Agency for Management of Seized Property.
