The wildfire of catastrophic proportions that engulfed the Pehchevo area on Wednesday threatens not only the city, but also the surrounding settlements.
Pehchevo Mayor Aleksandar Kitanski urged the population to join the efforts to combat the wildfire that is burning above the town of Pehchevo.
Kitanski added that those engaged in the battle against the blaze currently have air support, however the Mayor noted that more people and resources are necessary to suppress the wildfire which is currently out of control. Several teams from Pehchevo’s voluntary firefighting association are on the ground, as well as firefighters from the Maleshevo region, members of the local population and staff from public enterprises.
