Macedonian Ministry of Interior came out with details about the chaos that happened Wednesday at the Public Health Institute (PHI) when the refrigerators that store reagents for the whole of N. Macedonia were disconnected from electricity.

“On Wednesday around 5 pm the Public Health Institute reported to the Skopje Interior Department that an employee turned off all assemblies of the chambers where reagents for testing infectious and non-infectious diseases were kept,” the Ministry of Interior said.

“Police officers from the Skopje Police came to the scene and measures are being taken to clear up the case,” the Ministry of Interior added.

It is being checked whether there are any damaged reagents in the Public Health Intitute, after someone turned off the refrigerators in which they are stored yesterday, says PHI director Marija Andonovska, adding that she expects the Public Prosecutor’s Office to initiate a procedure regarding who had access to the electric fuses for the refrigerators where they store reagents for the whole country. The Institute informed all competent state authorities about the case.
