Former Skopje Mayor Petre Shilegov published a post on social media that represents a fierce attack directed at the former SDSM secretary general Mile Zechevikj. Shilegov accuses Zechevikj that he celebrated Republic Day- Ilinden this year in the Greek resort of Paliouri, alluding to his participation in Ilinden last year when he came to the Mechkin Kamen site riding a horse.
Ending with the words “oh my SDSM”, Shilegov talks about the low level to which this party has stooped. This latest quarrel once again reveals the deep division and discord within SDSM, showing that internal conflicts do not subside even on national holidays. In the last elections, SDSM won barely 180 thousand votes and barely 18 MPs, which is historically the worst result. During those elections, Zechevikj was acting as the party’s secretary general. According to the information, Shilegov’s advisor in the city of Skopje, who was the main advisor of the mayor’s campaign, Nikola Spasov, the son of the ambassador Professor Gjorgi Spasov, is now the adviser of Nikola Filipche by Zoran Zaev’s orders.
Relations between leaders in SDSM have never been more complex and tense, behind which experts say there is an unscrupulous and panicked fight due to fear of legal accountability, due to the high level of corruption in the ranks of that party.
