All reagents that were in the turned off refrigerators are functional, says PHI

The management of the Public Health Institute (PHI) will implement all working procedures in the direction of improving safety as well as improving the quality of services provided by the PHI, according to a statement from the institution, after an incident occurred there recently, i.e. someone turned them off the refrigerators in which the reagents were stored.
“On July 31, 2024, it was established that the chamber and refrigerator of the bacteriology department in the PHI were left without electrical power due to a disconnected fuse. After the reaction to put them into use, an inspection was immediately made of the work surfaces, reagents and antibiotics for antibiogram, from the chamber and the refrigerator, which were disconnected from the electrical supply. On August 1, 2024, all the necessary microbiological analyzes were performed to check the quality and correctness of the same, and it took 24 hours to obtain the result. On 02.08.2024, the obtained results were read and according to them, it was established that the molecular tests for the detection of whooping cough, as well as the media for the cultivation of bacteria, the antibiotics for the preparation of antibiograms and all the reagents that were in the turned off refrigerators, are functional and the normal functioning of the bacteriology department can be continued,” reads the PHI’s press release.
