Inspectors from the Civil Aviation Agency (CAA), led by director Dragi Stojanoski, carried out an extraordinary inspection three days ago at TAV Macedonia, in connection with the incident at the Skopje airport in which Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani was involved. It was determined that the airport services responsible for security checks acted professionally in the case and in accordance with international regulations, by not allowing her to circumvent the standards and procedures even, as they say, under pressure from the people who were accompanying the passenger.

After accusations from Osmani’s Office that the event at the airport was “mere provocation and a tendency to cause an incident” and they claimed that she, as head of state, passed through other airports without going through the scanner, the Agency informs that the international standards are clear, and if the TAV officials acted differently from the prescribed rules and allowed omissions and circumvention of the prescribed procedures, they would have faced serious sanctions from the Civil Aviation Agency.

Considering that these are generally accepted international standards, if anyone doubts their reliability, we recommend that they apply the same practice at one of the European international airports in order to be sure of their application, the Agency said in a press release.

From there, they add that Osmani refused to go through security checks at the airport on two previous occasions in 2022 and 23, and accepted them only when a pilot refused to accept the passengers on the plane without checking.
