Macedonian Ministry of Interior (MoI) strongly condemns the damage to the memorial plaque of the fallen defenders near the village of Karpalak, the ministry said in a press release.
The MoI points out that all necessary measures and activities are being taken to clear up the case and sanction the perpetrator.
The Macedonian Ministry of Defense also condemned the case earlier, noting that it is taking steps to place a new memorial plaque as soon as possible.
Thursday marked the 23-year anniversary of the tragic incident when ten defenders were killed in an ambush near the Prilep village of Karpalak on August 8, 2001. The ten army reservists who were killed in the August 8, 2001, Karpalak ambush were SashoKitanoski, NaneNaumoski, BrankoSekuloski, Marko Despotoski, ErdovanShabanoski, LjubeGrujoski, DarkoVeljanoski, VebiRushitoski, GoranMinoski, and PeceSekuloski.
