Dario Ivanovskimade his dream come true and became the first Macedonian athlete to complete the Olympic marathon, after he managed to reach the finish line in Versailles on Saturday and unfurl the Macedonian flag.
The best Macedonian athlete was not in his desired rhythm due to abdominal problems and it was evident during every measurement of five kilometers, so in the end he achieved a time that is 20 minutes slower than his personal record, which is actually also a national record.
Ivanovski, who additionally suffered an injury near the sixth kilometer, ran in a time of 2:08.26 hours at the marathon in Seville this year, and on Saturday he arrived at the finish line as the 69th with a time of 2:28.15.
