The Government at its 111th session on Sunday dismissed Afrona Verzivoli, who was previously appointed as acting chief auditor of IPA funds. Verzivoli’s dismissal comes after reports that she does not hold an auditor’s license and that the EU will review her appointment.
In the Government’s press briefing, it was emphasized that it is necessary to direct attention to the open abuses of the EU money and the funds made available that were present in the past period. Such abuses have not only left traces in documentation, but also caused the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) to request the return of several million euros from the state.
The ‘Worth It’ coalition said on Saturday that a few days ago it has withdrawn the appointment of Afrona Verzivoli as auditor of IPA funds. The coalition notes that although she has an excellent CV and significant professional experience, a decision has been made to temporarily replace her with another staff member from their ranks.
