Macedonian basketball legend Lazar Lechikj died aged 85

One of the most prominent Macedonian basketball players in the history of Yugoslavia and independent Macedonia Lazar Lechikj has died Monday night in Skopje at the age of 85.
Lechikj was a distinguished coach, and he left a deep mark on basketball in these areas, laying the foundations of basketball since the independence of Macedonia.
He started his career in the Rabotnicki basketball team, and then became the coach of this team, which he led several times. First from 1962 to 1972, then from 1975 to 1968, and he also worked in MZT, Nikol Fert, was a coach outside of Macedonia, in Borac Čacak, Olimpija Ljubljana, Vojvodina, Aris, etc. He was part of the professional staff of the Yugoslav national team that won the world championship title in 1970.
