We should be realistic and state that the adoption of the Ohrid Framework Agreement didn’t make either side fully happy and satisfied at the time, but it still brought what was most needed back then and that’s peace, said Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski in his address at a formal government session on Tuesday, marking the 23rd anniversary of the signing of the Ohrid Framework Agreement.
“For certain political parties the Framework Agreement is the best and is implemented only under the condition that they are in power, immediately after they are in opposition, they come up with criticisms and creative solutions to complement it, but also a different reading of the rights and obligations arising from it. At the same time, forgetting how expensive the price of that agreement is and that that agreement was written, among other things, with a lot of suffering and sacrifices from all sides, and to a certain extent it is also disrespectful to those victims who are there from all sides. They behave irresponsibly towards the topic of inter-ethnic relations because they paid the least attention to this, as they were surrendered and focused on personal interests, businesses and tenders,” PM Mickoski pointed out.
