A working group of the Association of Local Self-Government Units (ZELS) has been drafting a law on municipal police in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior (MoI), informedOrceGjorgjievski, Mayor of the Skopje Municipality of KiselaVoda and ZELS President.
Speaking to members of the media after Wednesday’s coordination meeting of the Skopje municipal mayors, Gjorgjievski said the public should be also informed about the bill in the coming period.
“The adoption of a municipal police law is a serious necessity in our country,” he stressed.
According to Karposh Municipality Mayor StevcheJakimovski, the existing problems the City of Skopje is facing won’t be solved unless a law on communal inspection is adopted.
“Communal inspectors should be authorized to ask for people’s IDs, to fine, to arrest, to request detention,” said the mayor.
