It is not the position of VMRO-DPMNE and the coalition, when one opens the screening report one can see that it is the position of the European Union, says Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, asked whether VMRO-DPMNE gave up on the Balancer tool in the Parliament.
PM Mickoski noted that the Balancer tool was misused in the past period, especially in declaring the citizens’ ethnic affiliation.
“If we want to make reforms for which the European Union itself says that you should make reforms, then one of the reforms is this. In which they say that the time of the Balancer tool has passed, because it was subject to many abuses in the past, especially in declaring the ethnic affiliation of the citizens. And that is not the position of VMRO-DPMNE, the position of ‘Worth It’, the position of ZNAM, SDSM, DUI or any other political party. This is the position of the European Union. Do we want to join or don’t we now? If we want to join, then we should at some point accept that thing that we can accept, and in this case it is the Balancer tool, that is, to make reforms or not,” said Mickoski.
