Former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) member Blerim Ramadani has escaped from house arrest from the home of his relatives in the country. Ramadani, who is from Kosovo, last month was arrested on the Kosovo-Macedonian border after an Interpol warrant was issued on Serbia’s request.
“The competent judicial authority submitted documentation to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the issuance of a central warrant for the person B.R. as it is currently unavailable to law enforcement. The Ministry of Interior is taking measures to find the person,” the Interior Ministry informed the media.
Former member of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Blerim Ramadani, was arrested on July 17 at the Jazhince border crossing while entering the country following an arrest warrant issued by Interpol Serbia. He was transferred to the Shutka prison in Skopje, after which, at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime, he was first ordered 30-day extradition detention. Last week, the Criminal Court decided to transfer Ramadani from extradition detention to house arrest in Skopje. The content of the arrest warrant is based on Serbia’s suspicions that Ramadani, as a former KLA army member, committed war crimes in the Nerodime region.
