Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said on Thursday that some former government officials with millions of euros in their bank accounts were trying to manipulate people and stir ethnic tension in the country, adding that these provocateurs would be held accountable sooner or later.
“We have indications of elements that have huge sums of money in the millions, some of them are high officials in former governments and that are trying to mobilize people on the ground, mostly to manipulate and, what worries me especially, is that that they are trying to provoke an ethnic conflict, that is, to destabilize the inter-ethnic relations in Macedonia. That’s what worries me the most, because they realize that in no other way can they mobilize people, and now the only way is to provoke this type of conflict. We will not allow that. I appeal to the public, the media and the citizens to refrain from any provocations, to ignore them,” said Mickoski, asked regarding the claims that there were people working to destabilize the country.
