Today’s anniversary is a reminder that no one liberated us, we liberated ourselves. The Macedonian state was not given as a gift, but was won and acquired through a difficult and just war of national liberation… You, the soldiers and officers, cadets and veterans of the Army are the true guardians of the heritage, the free Macedonian state, which was left to ASNOM 80 years ago by our brave ancestors, said Macedonian President and Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, in her address to the attending at the Central ceremony on the occasion of August 18 – the Day of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia, which was held in Ohrid.
On this occasion, Siljanovska Davkova pointed out that our strength comes from the unity of our diversity, ethnic, religious, linguistic, generational, gender, ideological, etc.
While we celebrate this anniversary, some members of the Army are fighting the wildfires across the country. At this moment, they are helping with extinguishing, protecting citizens and goods… Years ago, the Army was regularly engaged in supporting institutions in dealing with natural disasters and crisis situations. It always did it professionally and selflessly, that’s why the Army continues to enjoy the highest trust among the Macedonian citizens,“ the head of state pointed out.
