A family of four in N. Macedonia needed MKD 61.199 to cover the minimal consumer basket in August, which is an increase of MKD 629 compared to July, said the Federation of Trade Unions (SSM) on Tuesday.
From January to August 2024, the minimum basket has increased by MKD 4,036, and from when it is calculated according to the new methodology, that is, from December last year to August this year, by MKD 4,677.
“The data show that even without wages increase, the cost of living is skyrocketing, there is no justification for it, and no one is trying to prevent it, and it makes citizens, workers and pensioners even poorer,” said the SSM.
