Increase in the minimum wage and wage growth, both in the public and private sectors. The SSM union demands decent wages to restore the dignity of the workers, and a meeting with the authorities as soon as possible. If the minimum is not increased to 450 euros, and with it the rest of the income – there will be no one to work. Even imported workers from Nepal are fleeing the country. On the 78th anniversary of the foundation, they also ask the politicians not to keep in a drawer the request to reduce the official wages by 78%.

“I’m concerned about the politicians’ attitude towards workers. We filed the request for a 78% reduction in officials’ wages last year. It’s still in the drawer. We hear statements from politicians that if their wage were to be reduced, they would leave. What should worry them is that if the wages of the workers are not increased, the workers will leave Macedonia because they will have the opportunity to work in Montenegro for 600 to 800 euros, in Bulgaria for 500 euros, in Serbia for 500 euros, BiH for 500 euros, not to mention Croatia and Slovenia,” said SSM president Slobodan Trendafilov.
