The former president of the Union of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM), Zivko Mitrevski, at a press conference Friday, which was interrupted by the current SSM head Slobodan Trendafilov, referred to the request of the Union of Trade Unions for wage increases, claiming that Trendafilov is deceiving the public, and is making an unprecedented scandal with the SSM.
Trendafilov, who burst into the press conference uninvited, said that the SSM is a representative union and that they stand by the request for wage increases.
“You come here forcibly and you think that you should stay forcibly. Let the public see what kind of violence you use… Let me make a public criticism on Trendafilov’s behavior and deceiving the public about the wage increases. We as honest trade unionists will demand an wage increases and we will demand on the basis of legitimate unions to make a real social dialogue with which we will determine an increase in wages in the way that is established in our legislation, and not referring to something that is against all standards,” Mitrevski said.
The former SSM president claims that he was illegitimately removed from his post by a decision signed by the former Minister of Labor and Social Policy Frosina Remenski.
