The latest data of the State Statistics Office on the birth rate in N. Macedonia reveal that the country has a negative natural increase again.
The figures show that in the second quarter of 2024, 3,840 children were born alive and compared to the same period last year, their number decreased by 7.2 percent.
The number of deaths recorded an increase of 0.3 percent compared to the same quarter of 2023 and amounted to 4,711 people, and 12 of them were newborns.
The natural increase is negative, i.e. – 871 people, which means that the number of live births is less than the number of deaths.
There were 2,533 marriages in 2024, which is a drop by 22.6 percent compared to the same period of 2023.
