Macedonia develops cybersecurity infrastructure, new national strategy aligned with EU directives

Cyber-attacks on critical infrastructure in the region have been more frequent lately and protecting the country’s critical infrastructure – energy, water supply, transport, health care systems — is the state’s top priority, Minister of Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski said at the start of a two-day workshop on national cybersecurity capacity building.

In his address, the minister highlighted the challenges the country is facing, stating: “In the past period, we have witnessed frequent cyber-attacks on critical infrastructure, both in our country and in the region. Our critical infrastructure – energy systems, water supply, transportation, healthcare – are at the heart of the functioning of our country. Their protection is our top priority,” Andonovski added that the Ministry of Digital Transformation has recently started drafting the new National Cyber ​​Security Strategy of the Republic of N. Macedonia for the 2024-2028 period
