During Tuesday’s government session, we made a decision to increase the subsidy and award an additional MKD 3 per kilogram for wheat producers, taking into account the regional competition. We want to keep them because this is a strategic crop for us and we have to take care of the people who are engaged in the production of wheat, at the same time I will add here also the producers of barley, said Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski in response to a reporter’s question regarding the wheat farmers’ problem with buyout.
“If so far the subsidy per hectare was about MKD 6,000, at yesterday’s meeting we made a decision to double it, i.e. to MKD 12,000, taking into account the low purchase price of barley of MKD 9 per kilogram, so we continue to support all those which contribute to the improvement of living conditions in Macedonia. That is our interest and the policy of this government,” said Mickoski.
