Macedonia is facing a crisis in learning and according to the latest PISA assessments, over two thirds of students have poor results in reading, mathematics and natural sciences, said the UNICEF representative in the country Leslie Miller before the event “Education guided by the real needs of students – smart investment in teaching staff and infrastructure” organized by ZMAI Research and Analysis Association.

“One of the key factors is insufficient time spent studying. Macedonian students have about 900 hours spent studying less than the world average. The education system has not fully adapted the way it organizes resources, for example school structure, teaching staff and school funding. There are many opportunities to improve the situation,” said Miller.
